2019 finds Celestine Streetfest pivoting from the community building a party, to a party building a community through bringing people to work and play together, while also raising funds for the community! We want to make a profit, we want to have a lot of community fun, and we want to develop leaders and workers for various groups of the community. Streetfest is an important event for developing pride and unity in the community. We want everyone to be involved and feel like they have partial ownership in the event.

Profits from Streetfest 2019 will be granted out to Community of Celestine Inc, Celestine Community Club, Celestine Park, Good Shepherd of the Hills Knights of Columbus Council, Celestine Volunteer Fire Department, Celestine Elementary Parent Teacher Organization and St. Isidore Parish.

This year’s one-day Streetfest will be packed with events, food, and fun for all ages! It will be held again on the grounds of St. Celestine Church. View the complete schedule at CelestineIndiana.com or watch for flyers at local business or in the church carport entrance.

We are looking for new members for the Streetfest Leadership Team. The team sets the general direction of the fest (budget, big decisions, schedule etc.). The fest has an incredible group of volunteers who make the event come together, but every great event needs good leadership to keep everything moving forward. If you love the fest please consider joining the leadership team to keep it going! Now is the ideal time to join so you can watch how the fest pulls together. Contact Tony Buechler 812-827-8430.

A wrap-up newsletter for the Celestine 175th has been created by that events leadership team. It includes statistics, financials, and overall thoughts about the success of the event. You can view it at http://bit.ly/175report

A committee has been formed to create a remembrance book for the Celestine 175 celebration. The full-color photo book will document the year of festivities through lots photos with text, event facts, and some storytelling. Sample pages and pre-orders will be available at Streetfest.

It is important to remember that beyond providing lots of fun, the 175th and Streetfest are important fundraisers for the community. For example, a number of the improvements at the Celestine Community Club, such as the new main entrance, was funded in part by profits from the fest.

A file drawer in the church office has been dedicated for storing information from the 175th. Event details, worker schedules, sales counts, and other records from chairpersons of various events are to be included. A file from the 150th was very beneficial for the 175th. Instruction sheets, programs, photos, summary sheets, and listings of winners from all events would be helpful for the 200th celebration. Having everything in one place will also be helpful for the 175th remembrance book committee. Place any items in a manila envelope and note the contents and drop off at the Parish office.

There are still a small number of 175th merchandise items available. These include visors, hats, ¼ zip shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, women’s Polo shirts, bourbon glasses, stemless wine glasses, shot glasses, playing cards, water bottles, metal Polar Cups, 175th postmarked postcards & envelopes.
